There was ever really one time in Destiny's life that personal matters interferred with work - the time memories of being brainwashed came back. Those memories left the seasoned pilot in a fragile state that it made sense it would get in the way of work. Other than that, nothing else ever did - not even the death of Kevin Phillips. The brunette wasn't about to let the personal issue with Harrison distract from the upcoming mission. That was more important than any personal issues they had to work out. Smiling over at Gracie, the major knew that this young pilot was going to be a great addition to the team. She could see the spark of excitement in the young woman. Something that many fellow pilots shared, especially when it came to the F302s. There was nothing like it. Chuckling, the female took a sip of the coffee. "We'll make sure you are ready so there isn't any chance of a crash." She winked, then nodded. "I remember feeling the same thing when I was undergoing the same training. I was itching to get behind the real thing instead of all the simulated crap." Smiling, the major shook the fellow pilot's hand, already like the young. "It's a pleasure Lieutenant. Please call me Destiny off duty. Not really one for all the formalities if not needed." The pilot chuckled noting the rambling, reminded her of Azalea. "Hopefully that means you'll have magic in the sky. Great callsign name."

Destiny was about to say more, but was stopped feeling the ship jerk. Thankfully the cup of coffee was back on the table, so nothing spilled onto the uniform. "You alright?" she asked glancing over at Gracie for a moment, then looked around the room. That was not something you expected every day. They weren't even headed into a meteor field. That was really the only time you felt jerking around like that, or if they were under attack. As the ship shook again, the major held onto the table, going with it knowing it was better than trying to stand and get tossed around even more. The eyes connected with Harrison's for a moment, trying to get a read of what was going on, or even direction of what to do, then darted over to Nolen for the same thing. "Looks like you might be getting your request sooner than you expected Lieutenant." commented, eyes darting between Nolen, Harrison, then around the room surveying the damage, making sure everyone was alright.

Orson frowned as Aiko informed him of her stomach problems with heights.
"You should try some mint herbal tea. That stuff always calms down my stomach," he shrugged, "And the Stargate program has a lot of 'getting used to' moments. Like space travel, going through a Stargate, accepting that there will be things that will hate you, even if you didn't personally do anything to them," he began listing the items off on his fingers.

When Aiko asked about the mission, Orson glanced up at their fearless leader to make sure he was out of earshot before replying, "To be honest - yes it happens more than it should. I worked at the SGC for several years before Homewolrd and I've seen it happen more times then should be allowed. They probably wouldn't be sending this giant ship at all, if Daniel Jackson wasn't part of the group. See - he's kind of the heart of the Stargate program. His research led to it all working, really. They probably gave them so much time, thinking that golden boy would get them home," he sighed, realizing how bitter he sounded, "Basically I'd say 50/50 if they're alive or dead. Probably something took out the Stargate or something dangerous is now just outside the event horizon, causing everyone to either be trapped or die instantly," he smiled to counter his own words, before the ship suddenly shook.

Oh that would just be awesome on Aiko's stomach.

"Ow..." he muttered at the slight whiplash - eyes sliding over to Harrison as the man apparently wanted to get to the bottom of what had happened.

The man spoke just loud enough for Orson hear what he was saying, causing him to smile and return his gaze to Aiko, "Did he just make space-deer joke?"

Then another hit - much harder than before. Orson instinctively grabbed Aiko's arm since she was much smaller than he, and could easily be thrown around and seriously injured in a hit like that.

As she listened to Orson speak Aiko couldn't help but smile despite the bitterness in his tone. She cleaned her hands off from the orange she had just consumed and placed her hand down on top of his. "Don't sound so bitter, love. I'd mount a rescue mission to come and save you if you ever got stuck off-world. I'd put my fingers to work and hack into some database and get the best of the best to track you down." She winked. She definitely had problems - flirting with an older man who just got a divorce, smooth, Aiko. If only her mother could see her now.

She rolled her eyes at herself as she patted the back of his hand before withdrawing it. She took a sip of her ginger ale and looked back to Aiko when she screwed the cap back on and placed it on the table in front of her. "So either way we're going to be met with odds that aren't exactly favorable." Sounded like quite the rescue mission. Lovely.

When the spacecraft jerked violently, Aiko's stomach lurched into her throat and she grabbed onto her table to keep it from flying. She would rather get tossed about like a ragdoll and get injured than break her tablet. As she held it against her chest her other hand grabbed onto the table in a feeble attempt to keep herself from falling.

"Oh no..." Another violent shake of the spacecraft nearly caused Aiko to lose her lunch. Her hand jumped up to rest over her mouth as she closed her eyes. This was wonderful - just peachy. She looked to Orson with a grateful smile when she realized that he had grabbed her arm to keep her from being thrown around. "Thank you." She responded and then laughed. "I think he did." Perhaps their new commander wasn't too bad if he could make jokes at a time like this.

Now that the 'ride' was over - or at least for now - Aiko brought her table to life and she pulled up a program. Her teeth idly dug into her lower lip as she tried to figure out what exactly was going on. "Sir, our hyperdrive systems are offline." Great, this was just wonderful. She stood to her feet and made her way towards the door. "And we've lost power to some of our main systems. We seem to be sitting in the middle of some sort of ... asteroid field." That's what through her for a loop - there wasn't supposed to be an asteroid field here.
