Azalea's Apartment
Arlington, VA
Azalea Andre sat on the windowsill in the apartment, staring out the window as music blasted through the ears. Hoover had just gotten back from their mission a few hours pryer, debriefed then all went their own separate ways. The mission the team had just gotten back from had messed with the young woman. She never wanted to have it mess with her head that much, but being near death, with the live support going down, it got to the lieutenant's head. It brought back too many memories of the time in the Academy when she had died - when a lot of cadets had passed away due to a virus that they had gotten airborne while visiting another planet. Also the time that truly changed this former cadet around and for the better. After being given a second chance at life, how could you not want to make the most of every minute, and make every second count. That was the reason for Hoover's last mission messing with the female.
Azalea's gaze was focused intently outside, but not on anything in particular. The mind was too busy in its on thoughts to really care about anything going on around her. When you have actually stepped into death's grips, then been chosen to have another chance, you don't want to take for grant anything. The reason when the team was losing life support, the Lieutenant started not handling it so well. She wasn't ready to die again. She didn't want to face those gates once more. Many think there is a white light, but there wasn't. For this young woman, she was trapped in her own mind. It was weird to describe it, but it almost felt cold. Everything was so different and turned around in those moments of death. It really had been like she was asleep, a dream, and just been woken back up. Realizing she could meet that old friend again, that it could be a possibility thanks to the mission, it didn't settled with the brunette right. There was still so much life to live. There was still so much to see and experience that Andre didn't think about not having those chances. Yes being in the military, being in the Stargate program, you tip toe around death all the time, but at least with shooting, being captured, there is a chance a hope. Hearing that your life support is going down, you're slowly losing oxygen? Yeah that's death teasing with you, saying, I'm in control of this one. Good luck.
Letting out a sigh, Azalea flipped to another song on the ipod, needing to be pulled from these thoughts. Thankfully, the Lieutenant had been able to keep it together somewhat. There wasn't an emotional break down like there would have been in the past, but her focus on the mission hadn't been what it normally was like. She wondered how Shannon had been able to handle it. The teammate had experienced the same old mission, and it seemed to have barely scarred her. She really needed to talk to her. Another reason she looked up so much to Shannon. Always was able to keep it together in some way. Feeling a nudge on the leg, Azalea looked down to see Ember, Destiny's smokey looking canaan dog standing beside her. Smiling softly, she leaned down and started scratching the pup behind the ears. As a pain as taking care of the dog was, it was moments like these the young woman was grateful to have another living thing around that wasn't stuck in a cage. Dobby was great, but couldn't really comfort in times like these. Though nothing really compared to the comfort Logan gave.
Thinking about him, the brunette couldn't help but smile, though at the same time, nervous about his reaction to her on the mission. She might not have broken down, but it was evident in the eyes and some of her mannerisms she wasn't herself. Plus she was dating a shrink. So there went any hope of hiding anything. She wondered if he would eventually be arriving. He did have a key to her apartment which made sense to her. Come visit whenever. This was now his home in a way too. She didn't care if he came here while she was out somewhere and used the TV or what not. They were now a couple. Had to get use to sharing some time. She continued to scratch Ember behind the ears, letting the music carry her away, trying to turn thoughts away from the mission, but it was proving to be hard.
