Deli
Washington D.C.
As she waited for the man across from her to answer her question, Aiko took the time to take a bite of her sandwich. It was delicious and for once the man behind the counter didn't put too much mayo on it - which was something that had happened at the last deli place she had went to to get a sandwich. Even after she had told the person behind the counter to put only a small amount on it, her sandwich ended up flooded with the overwhelming taste of the mayonnaise. After swallowing down the food in her mouth she took a sip of her drink, her gaze lifting to meet Orson's when he finally spoke.
Divorced? She had never thought that he was married at one point, let alone divorced. She had assumed he was single after she saw no ring and he didn't seem like a man who was full of grief at the passing of a loved one. Divorce wasn't something that was common in Japan, so it had honestly never crossed her mind. She had to remind herself that she was in America now though and things were different - a lot different. "Don't forget you're a free man now as well." She replied, giving him a smile. If he had been in a toxic marriage then it was good for him that he was free. "Were - are - you happy now that you're free of the toxic marriage and able to live your own life?"
She laughed quietly at his next words and she placed her napkin down on the table beside her as she shifted in her seat to get more comfortable. "America seems to like to ban a lot of things - but yes, I was given orders." She replied. Aiko was trying to figure out the best way to explain her predicament without actually having to explain it to him. There were just some things she couldn't go into right now. "I may or may not have gotten my virtual hands on documents I shouldn't have - which is how I learned about the program - and when the authorities realized that I'd be a valuable asset they sent me here. There aren't very many people who can do what I can, and since it is a program that prides itself on representing multiple countries..." She trailed off and waved her hand. "I must admit that being here is a lot better than a ship, so I won't complain too much. I do miss home and my family. I was never outside of my country before I came here."
