Walkers Apartment
Katrina had this day planned throughout the entire mission on the unforgiving planet where they had to find a scientific team lost behind a wall of mystery. This day was to be perfect. When Robert left for work, she scheduled for her brother to arrive with some of her friends to place things inside their now three bedroom apartment. Their almost 18 month old son was still in a crib, still in diapers (but potty training), and still used a high chair to eat. When you have a small child, you also have a set of furniture for the child, all kinds of things needed just for the baby. Playpens, sippy cups, special plates and silverware, diaper bags, diapers, extra clothes for accidents, and countless other things that Kat was almost accustomed to by being able to visit her son and babysit whenever she had chose to. The worst part were the goodbyes, but it became customary and never easier each time. But now she had a chance to have him to herself, for an entire 3 days, with his daddy. She was a little afraid of what he might think, but hoped he would welcome his son with open arms. There were actually two surprises coming today that might make for a very emotional day.
Earlier, her brother and friends converted one bedroom into an office/baby’s room. His apartment was fairly large accommodating the furniture very nicely. In the corner sat the crib with a nice airplane mobile overlooking the blue/green bedding. A small dresser/changing table stood at the adjacent wall. The rest of the room was the office. The high chair was placed hidden for now but ready to come out when she would have them sit at the kitchen table for a nice home cooked meal as a family, for the first time.
When everyone left, Katrina took a shower and threw on her comfortable silk shortie shorts and tank top. Throwing on one of Walker’s older dress shirts he hadn’t worn anymore, the edges delicately trimmed off just below the short’s lining giving her long legs freedom. Her long locks were thrown up in a clip and small ankle socks kept her feet cozy. This allowed for faster movement around the house picking up toys, books, and other things she had been playing with with her son before Robert would come home from work. She danced around the room, iPod in the front pocket of the dress shirt and earphones in, listening to an array of music she loved. It helped cleaning to go by faster and now that Jr. was taking a good nap, she could get a lot done and maybe sit down for a couple minutes rest before her husband walked through the apartment door.
While in the living room cleaning up some magazines, she found the paperwork she had allowed Ayden to see from her dad’s house. Not wanting Robert to see these just yet, she placed them back into the manila envelope and put them back into her handbag. Today was about Robert and their son, not finding information about her father’s death. That thought was going to be placed in a box deep within her heart until later, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but later. That’s when a song came on the iPod that fit every feeling she was experiencing. The lyrics fit so perfectly, that it caught the brunette by surprise. But, it was also a song she loved because Imagine Dragons was a great group with incredible songs. Glancing at the clock, it was about 45 minutes before he was due home. As the tune continued, Kat’s legs began to groove with the tone of the music and not before long, it was engrossing her soul. Words came out of her mouth straight from the heart and so powerful that her voice actually sounded pretty good. Now, swaying her hips, the voice got louder as the music continued. She couldn’t help but sing along and dance, not even thinking of the surroundings behind her, especially the front door.
So, she just sang along to Demons by Imagine Dragons:
I wanna hide the truth
I wanna shelter you
But with the beast inside
There’s nowhere we can hide
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Curtain’s call
Is the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl
So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you've made
Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don't wanna hide the truth
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go
Your eyes, they shine so bright
I wanna save that light
I can't escape this now
Unless you show me how
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
