History
Personal History: Sky was born in early 1990 to Miranda Lockhart and Jax Connolly. Her parents had been going together off and on for several years at this point, and the birth of Sky brought them closer for a brief period of time. However, when Sky was 18 months old, Miranda disappeared without a trace, leaving only a note apologizing and saying that one day they “would understand”. Jax Connolly was a career military man, but the two were extremely close. When he was away on assignment around the world, she would stay as close as possible. Nearly her entire elementary and secondary education was completed at schools with close ties to the US government. Having been raised around the politico-military establishment, she took a keen interest in such things at an early age.
In 2004, while on a summer trip to Greece, her convoy was attacked by anti-government rebel extremists. Her and seven others were taken hostage and brought to a camp that already housed ten more. During her time in captivity, she endured the pains of starvation and fatigue, as well as psychological and physical torture from her captors. When her identity was discovered, the rebels wanted to trade her to the Americans for an imprisoned bomber. A student of legal history, Sky refused, constantly reminding her captors that the Geneva Convention stated clearly that prisoners should be released in the order they had been captured. For this, she was stuck in a metal box out in the sun for three days with no food or water. Near death upon returning to the group, she was saved only by British SAS commandos in a daring rescue operation. The entire ordeal lasted 97 days.
Sky had been set on doing four years of aid work after high school even in light of her ordeal. If anything, it only fueled her more in her desire to help those that could not help themselves. In 2005, she was informed that her father, Jax Connolly, had been killed in the line of duty. Not having had the clearance to know what happened for real, she was under the impression he died when a helicopter crashed in Afghanistan. Devastated, Sky's world began to crumble. She had always known the risk, but never had fathomed that her father would actually die in the military. She became angry at the world. Two months later, she was approached by a few men at her home. After a long explanation, the one that addressed himself as Major Paul Davis presented her with her father's posthumous Medal of Honor, the highest award in the US military. The next day, her father's long-time friend Alec Styles showed up and threw protocol out the window. He informed her of what her father was doing, and how he really died. She could not believe it at first, but she knew Alec would never lie to her. Still miserable, he went to leave soon after but wanted to let her know something first. Being the daughter of a Medal of Honor recipient, she could choose to apply to one of the Service Academies and would be accepted so long as she kept her grades up. Driving on, she chose to lead that path.
Six months later, the surprise of the millennium was presented to her: her father was alive! The details were found out later, but the emotional reunion would be something she would never forget. Alec Styles paid a visit again, informing the two that he had discovered that Sky was not an only child. Sean, Jax, and Sky met for the first time shortly thereafter but it was as if they had never been apart, instantly connecting. With her brother having graduated from the Stargate Academy, and her father being a leader in the Stargate Program, it was not a big surprise to too many when she was chosen for the Stargate Academy in January 2009.
Family
Father: Jax Connolly, Brigadier General (USMC) – Washington, DC
Mother: Melinda Lockhart, Librarian – Alto Verde, CA
Brother: Sean Connolly, First Lieutenant (USAF) - Colorado Springs, CO
Training and Education
- Graduated High School with High Honors
- Dual-Enrollment classes taken in high school allowed her to have earned an Associate of Arts Degree by the time she finished high school.
- Numerous certifications in computer technologies acquired on own time
- Fully-licensed EMT-P (Paramedic)
Service Record
- Level II Combatives Certified – US Army
- Pathfinder School – US Army
Skills: Sky is adept at computer programming work as a hobby, but has no desire to pursue it as a career. She enjoys cultural studies as well, which goes hand-in-hand with her political views and aspirations for the future.
Personality: Sky is a complex creature. Her compassionate nature and desire to help as many as possible during her lifetime is showcased by her volunteer work. Early on, she decided to become an advocate for those without access to proper medical and basic life necessities. While her father had expressed concern that she was wasting her potential, he still backed her. After her captivity, a change came about her. The desire to help was still there – if not more strong. The ‘death’ of her father triggered something within Sky. At times she is cold, distant, seemingly able to detach herself from feelings. This has been used as a defense mechanism more often that those close to her would like, resulting in very few relationships that last any length of time. Her current mentality seems to be getting through the Academy, with her ambitions just within reach.
