ORP: Line of Succession

The 'no formalities' thing was welcome with Ayden - she hated being complete military all the time and since her and Harrison were friends there was no harm in dropping rank and just relaxing for once in their life. She placed her things down on a nearby chair as she followed him further into his condo and she glanced out the window. He had a beautiful view - something any man or woman would be jealous of and she smiled a little at the sight. "Damn, Colonel" She spoke up, obviously teasing him, "That was just what I was going to request too." Ayden chuckled and shrugged out of the light jacket she had and placed it beside her things.


"Rum and Coke, if you have it." She was a simple woman - she didn't want a fancy drink that someone couldn't pronounce. She wanted something that tasted good and she could have a few of. She was never a martini drinker, or one of those 'fruity' women. "You have a nice place here, Jon. I'm actually quite jealous of the view you have here." Ayden twisted her wedding band around her finger as she thought of the home she shared with her husband and son - while beautiful they could have found somewhere more secluded, somewhere they could have more privacy - but it was what it was and there was no going back.

"It is very relaxing." Ayden responded, nodding approvingly. Their salaries in their line of work helped too, she imagined - it had definitely helped her and Alavair with their home. When Jonathon came over with their drinks she took hers from him. "Thank you, kind sir." She smiled and held her glass up, clinking it against his gently. "To the future and our crazy lives." Despite how long she had been in the Stargate Program she was still amazed by the things they got to experience every day - especially in light of their last mission. The thought of it made her shake her head slightly - it had been a doozy. "So I heard that my team wasn't the only one to run into issues on their last mission. I heard something about sentient rocks?" She questioned, both her brows lifting in surprise.

The events of the past mission for all the teams was concerning and Ayden followed behind Harrison without a word as she joined him on the balcony. She took a seat as she placed her drink down and she shook her head. "I wonder if it's a new threat in this galaxy." She spoke up after a moment of silence. She had experienced the Goa'uld, the Ori, and the Wraith - this new enemy could be far greater than any of them and that made a knot form in her stomach as she thought about it. "I wonder what exactly it could be though. The events mirror the plagues in Egypt so it makes me wonder if this new enemy is like the Ori or something like we've never seen before." Either way it was something they had to keep an eye out for - a new threat in the galaxy was never something to take lightly. "And I thought we had enough on our hands with these cryptic messages and the issues Alavair's team has been running into lately."

Ayden agreed with Jonathon. It wasn't something that she was equipped to deal with either at this point in time. She could have her suspicions and make them be known to those in a higher position than she, but at the end of the day it was rare that they actually listened until it was too late. As she took another sip of her drink she glanced at the Colonel before shrugging her shoulders up. "I don't think I've ever actually been asked that question in regards to work, Jon." She responded, leaning back in her chair as she crossed her left leg over her right. "I love my team. Katrina, Adam, Farrah - they're like family to me - and while I do enjoy working side-by-side with them, I don't believe that it's where I should be." Ayden paused and trailed her finger over the top of her glass as she let out a quiet breath. "Ideally I'd be back in a cockpit but with not only my age but rank I know that probably won't happen unless I'm absolutely needed." The one bad thing about having a higher rank was being taken off the field - or in Ayden's case, out of the cockpit. "So I suppose my next choice would be having my own ship - which I've wanted for far too long, but again, rank issue." She shrugged up her shoulders.
