East Common Area
Atlantis
The water sparkled from the sun shining upon it as Lena looked out into the open sea. She was in one of her favourite spots in Atlantis, it had a nice view and it wasn’t as busy is some other open common areas. She hadn’t been one of the lucky ones to have a nice view from her quarters, it wasn’t a bad view per say as the city was spectacular in it and of itself, but instead of the open sea all she had to look at were other buildings. It was just as well, for if she had a nice view from her room, Lena would never leave it except to go to work.
She didn’t want to go back to her room that would mean that she would have to start packing. Lena just wanted to daydream for awhile, soak in all of Atlantis before she left. The dial in to Earth had been half-hour ago, and that is when she got her new orders, reassignment, back to Earth. The last time she had been to Earth was last year when the Ancients came to Atlantis and took it back. So much at happened since then, Atlantis moved planets, gained a new expedition leader with Col. Carter, and lost a few people along the way.
One thing she would not miss was her boss, though he was more like her boss’s boss. Not a lot of people could work well with Doctor McKay. She seriously didn’t know how that man was Canadian as all.
There were a few people she would miss, people that she now called friend and would miss dearly. Lena inwardly groaned she would have to tell people she was reassigned. She was not good with dealing with that sort of thing. Mostly she just wanted to pack up and leave without saying goodbye, it would be better than dealing with ‘goodbyes’. It was just the kind of person she was. It’s not like anyone would really miss her, they would just move on. Sure they would probably stay in touch for awhile through email but slowly but surely the emails would be far and few between and eventually stop all together as life moved on. This is how Lena experienced relationships over the years. People go away.
So she sat there, on the floor in the corner with a tablet in hand, looking out onto the ocean, saying goodbye to it all.
