Biological Information
Name: Orson Hyde
Gender: Male
Date of Birth (Age): March 8, 1974 (35)
Height: 6’5”
Hair: Always kept a bit shaggy - deep brown color.
Eyes: Brown.
Anything Else of Note: Orson tans easily, and gets freckles instead of burns. He’s an extremely tall and skinny man that often got the comment of ‘being a twig’ as a teenager. It honestly hasn’t gotten much better with age. He has a few interesting scars that he lies about the origin stories of - except one. Orson was shot once while off-world and was extremely jumpy around firearms for the next few months - and still has a scar on either side of his shoulder. Sometimes that shoulder still pains him, though he never voices it. He has no tattoos though always makes jokes about, ‘hey let’s all go get drunk and get tattoos!’ In reality he hates the idea of anything that permanent on his body. His favorite color is dark green, even numbers make him uncomfortable, and he had braces as a kid.

History
Personal History: Born in Madrid, Spain - Orson was the one of two children of the Hyde family. He and his twin sister - June - enjoyed growing up in the beautiful city. Their parents had only lived there for about a year, when the children were born. While Diego had roots back in the country, Alyssa was from Canada and had met her husband while on a foreign exchange program in college.
Orson and June remained close while growing up - though when time for college began, took rather different paths. Orson was accepted into MIT within the United States, while June went to England for engineering. Both parents were extremely proud of their children - especially since they both got scholarships which made the bill almost bearable.
Orson enjoyed his schooling - especially the courses he took on Forensic Anthropology. He kept constant contact with his twin - the duo visiting each other whenever their pocketbooks allowed. June often made jokes about how his accent was getting all ‘mushy and American’ while he mocked the sudden British twang to her once Spanish voice.
As he was working on his Ph.D, he was contacted by the SGC about his work and how they could use him. While in talks with the strange organization, he finished his Ph.D and flew straight to Colorado. For the next several years he worked in both the lab and the occasional SG team, attempting to figure out all the secrets that the Universe had to hide. During that time, he even fell in love. Or lust. He’s still not really sure. But it lasted long enough to somehow make him buy a ring and get eloped with another civilian in the SGC who was a physicist.
A few years later, he was told he was being transferred to the Homeworld Security Office...which was nowhere near Colorado. With a bit of irritation, he moved to Washington DC and began his job defending the Earth itself. His wife sent him divorce papers the next day. It hadn’t been going well between them before the transfer - but him accepting it was the final straw and he knew it.
Family: Diego Hyde - father - 62 - Linguistics Professor (university level)
Alyssa Hyde - mother - 60 - English Teacher (high school level)
June Hyde - twin sister - 35 - engineer - Some Aerospace place in the UK (her words)
Lily Williams - exwife - 36 - physicist at the SGC
Training and Education: All degrees up to his Ph.D: MIT
Service Record: 3 years at the SGC working on both random SG teams and in the lab.
Skills: Due to his father’s profession as a linguistics teacher, he picks up on languages rather easily. He’s currently fluent in: English, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Korean. He has a working knowledge in Chinese, Mandarin, American Sign Language, and Russian. He can read but not speak (as learned through the Stargate program): Ancient and ancient Egyptian. Orson is also rather skilled at forensics - as his Ph.D would indicate. He’s also decent at soccer, karaoke, the board-game Clue, sleeping like a rock, and rather quick and smooth with his tongue.
Personality: Orson is a rather intelligent and talented man - and is very aware of it. While he has slightly toned down over the years, he still has an arrogant feel to half the things that come out of his mouth. With this comes a sharp sense of humor, and elegance to his words - even when caught off-guard or thrown mentally off-balance. This translates to his constant attempts to smooth-talk everyone around him.
He’s not a fan of having people dislike him - though will not break a sweat to make someone change their mind about him. Orson is complicated like that. In his own opinion, everyone has no reason to dislike him...so why the hate?
When he actually manages to make friends, he’s rather loyal to them...most of the time. He’ll probably owe them a few bucks and still be borrowing one of their DVDs - but hey - at least he didn’t sleep with any of their spouses. Overall, though, he does try to be good to his friends and look out for them.
In work situations, he does settle down from his normal self. Having been in a few fire-fights and other random off-world fun, he quickly learned that the other aliens don’t care about his MIT degree or ability to pick up their language rather quickly.
Basically, Orson can be an ass but does (sometimes) know when to shut up and deal with the hand that’s dealt to him.
Ancient Gene: Yup.
