Stargate Academy: Calling Card

An alarm went off to the sound of “Daylight” from Maroon 5 on her cell phone. Shannon thought she set the alarm for 10am giving her enough time to shower, shave, and get ready for the first ride to her new position. Slapping around the bed trying to find Adam Levine and shut him up, her hand went from the sheets next to her, the pillow beside her, and back to the sheets. ”Where in the FU…..”, she began getting a little annoyed with his high pitched voice. She loved Maroon 5 and went to a couple of their concerts. She even had a crush on Adam Levine and still did. He looked badass with those tattoos and damn good in anything he wore. Finally, her hand brushed the device. Picking it up still blurred from the nature of not fully awakening, she blindly slid her hand across the iPhone to turn off the alarm. Refocusing, she looked at the time. ”Oh SH*&!” garbled out as she flew from the bed, no actually stumbled from the bed to the bathroom. This was going to be in the Guiness Book of World Records for taking a shower, shaving, getting ready, and heading out the door.

The Junior Grade found herself walking like a zombie to the elevator not even noticing who was going to be on her team. Frankly, she cared less. No coffee meant no caffeine. And no caffeine, meant very crabby Shannon. And to make matters worse, she was about to embark on one the most biggest fears she had, besides spiders,…elevators. They both creeped her out. She always pictured the compartment she was in was going to get stuck between floors and some alien creature come barreling through the top eating them all. I really gotta stop watching those movies. Sliding her way to the side, Meyers leaned back against the wall, closing her eyes and clutching the hand rail enough to make her knuckles turn pitch white.

The ride seemed endless. The sensation seemed unbearable. The fear raced exponentially. But, the final shake of the compartment stopping and the doors opening were a huge relief. ”Thank you God for allowing me not to be swallowed by a beast from another world.” Her statement was mumbled only to herself praying no one word, but actually didn’t care. She desperately needed coffee by now. Opening her eyes for the first time and really focusing on the others with her, she began to walk off the elevator hearing a seemingly familiar voice. Oh wonderful, Connolly. Yay, my day is starting off so bright…not.

Walking past him, she gave a wry smile with one of her sarcastic answers back, ”not long enough darling, she ended passing him with a quirky wave and wink.

Now, I wonder what other blast from the past I’ll run into next.

The scent of freshly roasted coffee is like a noose around the neck of anyone addicted to the effects of caffeine. The aroma slithers into the nostrils and pulls you in like floating through the air. Shannon felt this tug of wondrous scent stepping into the room where the presentational movie that would bore all who watched to their dire deaths. The only thing on the Junior Grade’s mind was coffee, with lots of cream and sugar, then sleep during the movie. She never noticed who was called out of Sean’s mouth as being already there. Zombie mode kept the young woman slowly trampling towards the aroma, closer and closer. Her thigh hit the table with a thump and a slight ouch escaped her lips. ”Who pushed that table into me” blindly spoke the half wakened woman as she took a cup without looking and began to poor.

Once her coffee was finished, the first sips were the aphrodisiac of her world. ”Thank the maker of this divine product.” Eyes still blurred from lack of continual sleep during night. Reminder to self to kick the ass out of the tenant above me for playing that Metallica all night. Making her way to a back seat, Shannon glanced quickly around the room. Someone’s back head looked awfully familiar. ”It can’t be…can it?” Sitting in a chair, Meyers brushed off the thought. It couldn’t possibly be him, he was on some secret mission elsewhere.
