Stargate Homeworld: Unpromised Land

Adam put his monocular away into his vest and turned to the others.  All of them were here now, timed a few minutes apart.  No one was seriously injured, with only minor scrapes and bruises from the descent past the wall.  Having tested the wall, Collier knew that it was completely solid.  The very real fact was that they currently had no viable escape plan from this planet.  Their primary objective was still to determine the fate of the science team, but they had to begin considering how many personnel should remain at risk.

Stepping over to the rest of the team, Adam spoke up, "I'd say our best bet is that city down there.  They obviously came this way, and whoever made it past this point would have naturally gone there."  His inference that some of the science team would not have been able to stop and plummeted to their deaths off of the cliff was clear, but there was no point in voicing it directly.  There was a chance that every single one of them did so, but until they ruled out them being alive, Dulles would continue on their assignment.  As the team discussed it, Adam looked down on the city with a heavy, ominous feeling upon him.

As they neared a babbling brook near past the first few buildings in the city, it was clear that Egyptian culture was where the architecture fit in.  Several people ran by, one smack into the Lieutenant.  Keeping the woman dressed in a beige dress from falling, Adam looked her in the face and said in concern, "Are you alright?"  She looked terrified, and struggled away, taking off in no particular direction.  In fact, everyone seemed to be going their own way, with no destination in mind.  Collier looked to his team leader in concern.  "Well this doesn't look good ... "

With everyone through the mysterious portal - Adam pointed out that the city was their best bet. Also throwing in that probably some of the lost scientists had fallen over the edge. Farrah carefully glanced over as he inferred that, before following the group towards the town.

The closer they got to the village, the more obvious the Egyptian vibe became. Though Farrah wasn't familiar with the architecture nor languages associated with said culture, she had seen enough mummy-themed movies to recognize the style. As they actually entered the village, however, things began to get...odd. People started running by them - not even shooting them a back-glanced. A woman ran into Collier - nearly falling in the process. Before she could answer any questions, she ran off - running in no particular direction other than away. Others continued to trickle by - including a little girl whom Katrina attempted to communicate with. Once again - she ran off.

Dodging a few people herself, Farrah studied her surroundings - attempting to find some indicator of what was going on.
"What are these people so afraid of?" she asked aloud, "Maybe something to do with the storm?" she ventured, quickly dodging a rather large man who nearly barreled the small girl over, "They are absolutely terrified. I mean we're strangers in their home and they don't even mind us," she shook her head, genuinely a bit worried about whatever was happening here.

Whatever it was - it was probably very, very bad.

Watching the actions of his team leader, Adam furrowed his brow in concern as she ran her test.  When she announced her findings, the Lieutenant spoke with a slight sigh in his voice, "Well now, that's different."  Removing his canteen from his belt and unscrewing the cap, he tilted it back as it reached his lips and taking a swig.  Eyes widening, Collier spews the liquid out in front of him, grimacing and looking bewildered at the canteen.  With the other team members now staring at him, Adam tips it over dramatically, pouring a steady stream of the now-red contents out and splashing onto the dirty path.  Spitting the taste away, the former Special Forces operator muttered, "I know I have a history of iron deficiencies in my family, but this is a little extreme.  Someone has a really bad sense of humor."

Dropping the light mood and turning to his all-business mode, the Lieutenant nodded at the others and stated, "It's probably a moot point but you all should check yours as well."  His suspicious confirmed, Adam was about to comment on something when something jumped out of the water and smacked him in the face with a wet, splashing sound before falling to the ground and bouncing away.  "What the f--" he managed before several more frogs ejected from the water.  Only moments passed before the frogs seemed to be multiplying exponentially.  Putting a hand up to avoid being nailed in the face yet again, Adam yelled, "Let's find some cover!"

Katrina glanced over to Adam just as he pulled out his canteen for a drink. Although she wondered if it was possible, he could have poured it out on his hand, not in his mouth! Adam, what in the world are you!?...” But, it was too late. The stubborn First Lieutenant already took a swig. Out of instinct, Kat ran over to him and pulled the straps off each shoulder of the medical bag. Placing it on the ground and crouching next to it, Kat opened it ready for any kind of reaction Adam might be experiencing. However, this was an unknown planet and the former medic may not have the correct anecdote or medicine to counteract any allergic or fatal reaction. ”Damn it Collier, are you crazy?” came out very demanding but also quite sincere. ”You die on my watch and I’ll find you in the afterlife and kill you again.” He spewed out the contents giving Walker a sigh of relief. Kat came over and felt his forehead for any immediate signs of fever from the little amount he probably ingested without realizing it. ”Are you feeling any kind of unusual symptoms”, she asked more delicately. His reaction gave her another sigh of relief.

The brunette then checked her own canteen, but poured hers on the ground seeing the red stream come forth. ”Well you don’t see that every day”, Kat announced looking around to the others with the same content. ”Well there’s goes our fresh water if we need it….Ack! You’ve got to be kidding me, frogs? screamed the Major having a large one land smack on top of her head. Then another on smacked her ass. She let out a yelped ouch. ”And a crap load of them.” Hearing Collier’s exclaim, Walker nodded gladly to get away from these little perverted creatures darting in the opposite direction with the rest of the team.
