Stargate Homeworld: Unpromised Land

Atlantis? Isn’t that the place where unfounded technology was created and it was sunken deep on the ocean floor never to be found? Weren’t the streets made of gold or marble or something? People wore togas and admired the gods and goddesses with statues drinking wine and having lavish orgies?

When Shannon stepped through the gate, her eyes deceived her. The technology just beyond the gate tickled the depths of her soul. Just look at all the buttons. I must figure them all out. Yes. Lights seemed embedded into the walls giving the place a glow rather than walking into a room that was lit by lamps and light fixtures. The array of golden colors illuminated off the walls.  It gave Meyers a huge silent ‘wow’ across grinning lips. The place was completely what she had not expected it be. ”Well we’re obviously not in Kansas anymore Toto,” were the only words she could muster up.

But the silence also gave the Junior Grade an eerie almost scary hew under the skin. This place had been submerged for so long; there was no telling what corridors may still be left unexplored and what creatures may still lurk inside. ”I've gotta stop watching Supernatural” stated Shannon feeling the hair on the back of neck stand on end at the thought. Looking back to her new team, Meyers truly believed that Sean was behind her transfer. She wasn’t supposed to mess with the doorways back in the simulation. But karma is a bitch and she knew someday, he may pay. Only knowing one other person in the team, Shannon decided to stick by her for information on the others. Being the talkative little machine, Az would surely fill her in on everyone’s personalities, likes, dislikes, and how good a shot they were if the need arose.

En-route to Conference Room
Atlantis Corridor

Azalea Andre was excited to be back in the city of Atlantis. Recalling the last time here, the brunette chuckled taking in the wonders once more. There was so many different places the former cadet had experienced and seen being apart of the Academy. It was Atlantis that stood out the most. There was just something about this city. It was majestic and radiant. When the sun hit the walls just right, it made the whole place seem to give off a glow. One day, the lieutenant wanted to work within these walls. That was probably a dream of anyone that came to Atlantis, but it was obvious why. Who wouldn't want to work in a place such as this. It was also fun being back this time around working with the SGC and no longer a cadet. That meant, no note taking and quizzes on what was learned when they got back to the Academy. The eyes narrowed at the remembrance of those quizzes. God they were a killer, and ones didn't have to deal with any more.

Following the team, Azalea walked beside Shannon, excited that the old friend was now a member of Hoover. The brunette never got a chance to work with Meyers back at the Academy. The only times was when the two cadet teams came together, but that was few and far between. She couldn't wait til everyone saw what Shannon was made off. The fellow teammate was definitely more than meets the eyes. The young woman bit the bottom lip, holding back a chuckle. Oh if only she could record that moment; it would be priceless hopefully. This team was shaping up nicely in the female's mind. The last mission might have been rough. The lieutenant couldn't wait to fill Shannon in on all the needs to know about the team. You had Alavair who was the husband of their favorite, and toughest, instructor back at the Academy. That said all you needed to know right there. Lucas who was amazing with a gun, knew his stuff, and turning out the big brother she never had, even if he would never admit it - then there was Logan. At that moment he brushed past as the young woman fought to keep focus straight ahead and acting normal. How do describe the one person who she was caring more and more about each day? Handsome, good looking, caring, funny, a gentleman, and oh a brilliant kisser? She knew Shannon would love to hear that, but yeah, would have to work on describing Logan without giving away too much. He didn't like she wanted their relationship kept a secret, but unfortunately it had to be. They were serving on the same team together. That was a no no. The brunette had worked too long and too hard to lose that now, but with the feelings that were growing for the XO, it was hard not to say screw it.

Azalea chuckled hearing Lucas' comment, pulling her away from the thoughts. "I thought the same thing when I first came here. Wait till you see how some of this stuff is controlled; the Ancient Gene. Unfortunately I don't have it, but the ones that do? It's really something to watch." The lieutenant remembered that grueling test as a cadet and winced. "Remember that quiz Shannon? I swear my head never spun so much than after that Ancient Genetic test." That was one of those subjects the young woman would need to brush up on. That was a class that really did this female in.

Shannon also harbored the ancient gene. However, she never had the chance to put it to any use. Bright pretty buttons and wires were much better to play with. The idea that a simple gene, a micro-organism could actually control an entire ship, or ground vehicles, or even a whole city once demised at the bottom of an ocean gave Shannon a rise of excitement. During her technical training, Meyers did experience some not so expected explosions while trying to disable mines. Some tanks and transports were also a victim of her mistakes (or ‘experience’ as she called it). On a few occasions, even rubber dummies of civilians wound up as charred remains due to her ‘experience’. Putting things back together after being demolished; that was her forte. Although, putting human remains back together would take a lot more than a screwdriver, wrench, and some duct tape. Shannon’s knack of putting devices together made her a female MacGyver…well sorta. She did have a long way before becoming an actual MacGyver, but the Junior Grade did have decent knowledge of how things ticked, or blew up in some cases.

"Remember that quiz Shannon? I swear my head never spun so much than after that Ancient Genetic test." Shannon didn’t hear “that Ancient Genetic test part” as the bright lights and more buttons seemed to have her devoted attention. If a butterfly fluttered past her nose, the former cadet would probably follow behind it with a child’s catching net hopping to catch the little creature. ”Test, what test?” she mumbled not actually remembering what Az was talking about. Why did she have to be so damn tall? Looking down at comrades sometimes made Meyers uncomfortable; but Azalea was an exception. It was like looking down at a little sister. And it was that little sister instinct that drove Shannon to dislike her boyfriend, Sean. Their love/hate relationship was very obvious. Sean knew that Shannon was only protecting De, but he also knew that something inside the feisty brunette didn’t trust him. ”You not referring to the test I blew up the Colonel’s personal Jaguar that took him years to acquire, are you? ” Realizing she had just revealed information best kept quiet, Meyers blushed stopping the conversation before it went further. ”Errr…I mean, sure I remember, it was harsh”, she finished rolling her eyes to the side in embarrassment.

Nice one, Meyers.

Hazel e eyes reverted back to the team. When Logan looked at Az and she looked back, in her own little devious way, Shannon suspected something a little more than just comrades. But, Shannon was also known to be a little over assuming at times. Maybe she needed to have a little sit-down with De after the mission to discuss just what was going on with Sean, or maybe this Logan guy. She probably wouldn’t trust him either, but that was Shannon.

It sometimes amazed her just how people came to call her “Angel”.

Azalea had to bite back a laugh, hearing the dazed distant look in Shannon's voice, but the laugh erupted at the comment that came next. "I had completely forgotten about that test. Oh my god I thought he was going to kill you after that." The brunette doubled over with laughter, grabbing the knees thinking about that day. Even though it had been the hardest time of life, the Academy also had the most hilarious moments, and that test was right up there with them. "Hey you graduated! You swore that you were going to expelled but you didn't! He probably got another one eventually any way - a bigger and better one." There were a lot of instructors at the Academy. Many were  impressive and capable ones, but then there were some that only were at the Academy for rank. The said instructor Meyers was referring to was just one of those. The Lieutenant reached out and patted Sailor's shoulder. "Don't worry Shannon. I'll explain later, and hopefully you'll get to see the Ancient Gene in action on this trip." She winked at Shannon, smiled at Lucas as they approached the conference room.

Stepping into the room, Azalea slid into a seat next to Shannon, pulling out the tablet of her own, looking up as Logan began. The female had to make sure to stay focused and not let the words he was saying allure her away. The XO had that affect on the brunette - was able to make all other thoughts fade away whenever he was in the room. In this case, they were on a mission and needed complete focus. If he could do it, then this young woman could do it as well. Leaning back in the seat, Azalea let out a small sigh, glancing around the room in silence, waiting for the meeting to begin. Hopefully it would be semi entertaining and something the lieutenant could follow along on. The ones that went over the head were a nightmare/
