Stargate Homeworld: Unpromised Land

The team automatically kicked it into high gear. So much for a normal day on the job. As Lucas followed the team XO into the gateroom he drew his pistol from its holster and flicked the safety off. He knew that the small security team could probably handle the situation but it was better to have too many hands than too few. He wasn't quite sure what to expect when the iris went down and he crouched down, waiting for the team to emerge from the gate.

When Azalea came back and tossed him a weapon Lucas caught it with one hand before flicking the safety back on his sidearm and he put it back into the holster. He flicked the safety off of the P-90 and checked the magazine in it to make sure it was loaded and ready to go. The team emerged from the gate moments later and a splay of weapons fire nipped at their heels. An arrow whirled behind one of the members and got him right in the leg, causing the man to fall.

"Close the iris!" The team leader of the gate team called out once all of his team members were through and Lucas moved over to where the fallen man was. He checked his vitals and placed his weapon to the side so he could examine the entry wound. "You should be fine, bud. Just gotta get that bugger outta you." He spoke up, patting the man on the arm. "We need medical care over here!"

When the medical team came over to help the injured man, Lucas stood to his feet. While he had combat medical training this was no time for him to put it to use, especially not with better trained individuals there to take care of the situation. As he pulled his pistol out, Lucas unscrewed the lens of the tactical light like Logan did. He flicked it on and swept his tongue over his lips as he glanced around.

"Yes sir." Lucas responded. He barely knew the layout of Atlantis but he could remember some of it from the blueprints he had read earlier. As he moved away from the Gateroom Lucas turned down a hallway, holding his weapon up so that the light could illuminate the hallway. "Andre, Meyers!" Lucas called out.

The darkness hadn't been Lucas's friend in so long, not since his mission in Iraq that had went awry. The darkness brought on nightmares of that night and it took all the willpower he had to push it to the very back of his mind. It wasn't time to think of things like that, it wasn't time to focus on the past. He had to stay in the here and now.

As he turned down another hallway Lucas saw doors closed and he picked up his pace to stop in front of the door. "Girls, you in there?!" Lucas pulled the tactical light from his pistol, re-holstered the gun and stuck the light in his mouth to light up the door as he slid his fingers along the seam to try and find a way to open it.

Azalea had to bite back a laugh at Shannon's reaction to the blackout. She was almost tempted to ask, are you sure? That reaction was basically saying other wise. The lieutenant turned, letting Shannon focus, while facing the light on the edge of the door, trying to figure out another way to open it. Running the fingers along the edge, there didn't seem a way to wedge it open. The Ancient technology was something else. Plus, since the doors basically opened automatically, trying to pry it open could potentially damage who knew what. Shooting at it wouldn't be a smart solution either. The doors were more than likely bullet proof - meaning a ricochet affect. Seeing as they were in a dark confide area, best not do anything else to make matters worse.

Hearing her name, De turned facing the Junior Grade. She stepped up next to Shannon, peering over into the box, eyes also going wide. "I was being sarcastic when I mentioned a bomb. I'm not physic I swear." Technical matters like this weren't up the brunette's alley. So the fact they were staring at a device that was far from anything created on earth, confused the female even more. She knew the very basics - enough to identify different kinds of technology, but anything beyond that, forget it. "Can't say I have. Sorry Shannon. What's it doing here though? Hold up!" Whipping around the backpack, De pulled out her tablet, swapping a finger over the screen to wake it back up. "Let me get a picture of it." It might sound silly, but being a forensic specialist, having pictures later to go over were helpful. They might not come out the best due to the limited lighting, but it was better than nothing. With the technology of the lab they had back on earth, she could more than likely blow up the picture to get something decent.

After adjusting the flashlight and the settings on the tablet just right, Azalea snapped a few pictures then nodded, stepping back to let Shannon put it all back together. The forensic specialist zoomed in and out of the pictures, trying to get a good look, seeing if there was anything they could work with for later. "Agreed. First we have to get out of here though." A shiver ran down the length of the brunette's spine, thinking that this all was planned. "Do you think it's an inside job? Or someone from the outside? Kind of seems too much of a coincidence that a team just happens to come through as lights go off." She held her own light over towards the panel, giving Angel as much light to work with as possible. "Shannon, what if there are other devices like that around here? I didn't see a timer on it, so do you think its for destroying the place? Or something else entirely?" So many questions and not enough answers. Once again, another mission not going according to plan. She breathed out a sigh of relief hearing Lucas' voice on the other side, chuckling as Shannon replied.

Azalea moved slightly behind the taller female, ducking a bit, wincing waiting for the big boom. Thankfully this boom would be controlled by someone she knew and trusted. "She's serious about standing back Luc! Shannon, if I need to dive for it, give me some kind of signal." The mind kept wandering back to the box behind the two. The fact they were in a black out, and there were devices like that laying around didn't sit right with Andre. The clock was ticking, and she hoped that wouldn't become a literal fact as well.
